Help a Local Woman Support a Young Girl

Marie Coppola needs your help and is raising funds through GoFundMe.

Marie Coppola wants to help a young Nicaraguan girl named Massiel and is raising money via the GoFundMe Web site.

According to the page on GoFundMe, Massiel is 12 years old and has been deaf her whole life. Unfortunately, she did not have the opportunity to learn sign language at an earlier age, but she is smart and ambitious and will be starting her journey at the deaf school, the Hogar Escuela in February 2014.

The page states, "[The scholarship will] make a genuine difference in her and her family's life. The scholarship covers registration, monthly fees, alimentation, personal supplies, family visits, school materials, and uniforms for a year. Now she can learn to communicate in Nicaraguan Sign Language (NSL) and learn future skills that will improve her standard of living."

So far, $180 has been raised. To donate to the cause, visit the GoFundMe page.
