What's Open, Closed for Good Friday, Easter in Tolland

Good Friday is a holiday for the state of Connecticut and many local governments and schools, but not the federal government or post offices.

Town Hall closes at 4:30 p.m. Thursday and does not reopen until Monday morning.

Department of Motor Vehicles and AAA offices

Holiday schedule for American Automobile Association offices and major service centers, including the Willimantic office and the Wethersfield office:

• Friday: Both offices are closed all day. "All AAA offices will be open to process renewals for driver licenses and non-driver ID cards during their normal business hours on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19."
  

• Saturday: Offices are open for normal business hours, starting at 8 a.m. AAA offices are open.
  

• Monday: The Willimantic and Wethersfield offices are closed, as usual. AAA offices are open.
  

• Tuesday: The department reopens for business with normal business hours of 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Good Friday

• Tolland Public Schools remain closed Friday for Spring Break.

• Hicks Memorial Municipal Center (Town Hall) is closed. (Trash collection continues as normal.)
  

• Tolland Public Library is closed.

• Connecticut state offices are closed.

• Connecticut state courts are closed.

• The New York Stock Exchange and much of the financial industry are closed.

• Trash collection continues on the normal schedule.

• The Arts of Tolland gallery is open from 1 to 4 p.m.

• Indian Valley Family YMCA in Ellington is open for normal hours.

• The University of Connecticut remains open as usual.

• U.S. government offices are open.

• Post offices are open.

• Banks in Connecticut have the option of opening or closing. According to state policy: "Connecticut banks and credit unions are required to give at least two weeks’ advance notice to their customers of holiday openings and closings by posting such notice in the lobby of each office." TD Bank is open.

• CTTransit bus service will operate on a normal weekday schedule.

Saturday

• The Arts of Tolland gallery is open from 1 to 4 p.m.

• Trash collection follows the normal schedule.

• Tolland Library is open as usual.

• Indian Valley Family YMCA in Ellington is open for normal hours.

• CTTransit bus service will operate on a normal weekday schedule.

Easter Sunday

• The Arts of Tolland gallery is closed.

• Indian Valley Family YMCA in Ellington is closed.

• Darien Library is closed.

• CTTransit local bus service will operate on a normal Sunday schedule, but there will be no express service.
