Exercise Your Privilege and Constitutional Right on November 8th!

On November 8th, you will be asked to cast your vote for your community volunteers seeking seats on boards and commissions. It is important to know who they are.

On Tuesday, November 8th, our citizens will once again be asked to cast their vote for the members of the community who have volunteered to serve on the many boards and commissions in our town. This volunteerism comes with no monetary reward, no tax breaks, but is a true commitment to public service.

I am running for Town Council. I served on two other boards over the past 10 years, and I participate in several other civic organizations in town. I feel so privileged to have the opportunity to support my community, and I am grateful for the number of really wonderful friends I have made over the years, people who are considerate and thoughtful and who participate to keep their community strong and vibrant. It is that type of commitment that has consistently put Tolland amongst the top places to live in our entire country (27 in 2009 and 37 in 2011).

I served our country in the United States Army for 7 years. I have felt the call to service for as long as I can remember. Today, our young men and women serving in the military fighting on foreign soil believe in their hearts that people in all of the world deserve the right to have a voice, to cast a vote and they are willing to put their lives on the line to make it so. They understand that there is no other place like the United States of America, the land of the free.

I hope that on November 8th, you will exercise your privilege and your constitutional right, and cast your vote to elect into office those who you feel will best represent your community. I also ask that you consider the choices carefully.
