Volunteering, Not Campaigning

Volunteerism is the heart of our community!

I believe it is true that most of the folks that are seeking election on Tuesday are really good and fair minded people who truly believe that they can make a difference in our community.  It is in that same spirit that some want to volunteer to help out friends and neighbors in this difficult time.

The Town Manager has put out a call for help, for volunteers to help elderly and disabled clear the debris from their homes. I hope that ALL of the candidates running for boards and commissions will join me in being civil and respectful, and refrain from politicizing the support of opponents by utilitzing the electronic media, blogs, etc. with accusations that those who are out there working are just trying to seek a political advantage.

We live in a great community, and I can say that I've never been prouder than I am of our town staff who have been working incredibly hard for us.  Let's show them that we are worthy to serve them and our community as well, and prove that our priority is the health and welfare of our community and the citizens who live within.
