Another Victory for Tolland Juniors in Regional Tournament

The Tolland All-Stars went up against New Jersey and won 11-2.

The Tolland All-Stars battled the team from Howell, NJ, in Monday night's game, and took the win 11-2.  Pitching for Tolland were Thomas Slane and Eric Gottier.

Tolland gave up one run in the bottom of the first but quickly recovered. In the second, the team's great hitting pulled in four runs to come ahead. Among those to hit was Vinny Farrell, who had a solid double to send Matt Curtis home.

New Jersey was unable to score in the second and third innings.  Tolland's defense held up, with Jacob Simon making a diving play at third, and Nick Paasch running to make a catch in center field.  In the fourth, Tolland drove home three more runs for a 7-1 lead.

Tolland held the New Jersey team in the bottom of the fourth with quick fielding and stepped out to another two in the top of the fifth.  Paasch hit a solid double right to the fence to start off the hitting.

New Jersey scored again in the bottom of the fifth, but Tolland quickly ended the inning and came back in the seventh to get another two runs.  Tolland was relentless in the field to end the game quickly, with another great catch for Paasch and a tight play to first by closing pitcher Gottier.

Tolland has gone undefeated in the Eastern Regional Tournament so far, with two wins.  The boys will play again Tuesday night at 7 PM.
