RAGE Earns Second Place for its Float

RAGE Robotics' latest entry in the Tolland Memorial Day parade.

Now in its fifth year of marching, RAGE Robotics earned second place for its float in the recent Tolland Memorial Day parade. The flatbed trailer carried two of the team’s most recent robots while members demonstrated the movements the machines are capable of performing. Last year’s robot was able to shoot foam basketballs at full-size NBA baskets to score points during competitions. This year’s robot sports two pairs of extendable climbing arms topped with hooks that are used to scale a 10-foot pyramid made of pipes that sits in the middle of the game floor. Parade spectators, children and adults alike, are always excited to experience the robots in person and see them moving.

RAGE (Robotics And Gadget Engineering) is made up of high school students from Tolland, Vernon, Manchester, and East Hartford, along with teachers, engineers, and parents acting as mentors and advisors. Going into its twentieth year, the team will be based at Tolland High School starting in September and is always looking for new members.
