Tolland Memorial Day Parade Scheduled for May 27

The parade will begin at 1 near the Green.

Tolland's annual Memorial Day parade, billed by officials as the largest annual gathering in town, is scheduled for Sunday, May 27.

The parade will step off at 1 p.m. This year's theme is "Honoring the Flag."

The parade route will begin along Route 74 near the Tolland Green, proceed on the Old Post Road and end at the intermediate school at 96 Old Post Rd. The route totals seven-tenths of a mile.

Featured marchers include the Governor's Horse Guard, the Nathan Hale Ancient Fife and Drum Corps and the Manchester Regional Police & Fire Pipe Band.

A solemn ceremony will follow the parade at the intermediate school featuring soloists Kelsey Kaplan and Amanda Danielson from Tolland High School, the THS band, decorated Tolland resident Sir Barry Simons and Commander Pat Foley from the VFW Post 241.

Donations will be accepted for the state veterans home in Rocky Hill. Donations may also be mailed to the Permanent Celebration Committee, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084.
