Tolland Memorial Day Parade Slated for May 26

The town's Permanent Celebration Committee has selected "The Fallen Are Never Forgotten" as this year's theme.

The 22nd edition of the Tolland Memorial Day Parade and Service is scheduled for Sunday, May 26, at 1 p.m.

The town's Permanent Celebration Committee has selected "The Fallen Are Never Forgotten" as this year's theme and any Tolland-based business or civic groups and any student groups officially sanctioned by the Tolland public school system are invited to participate.

Parade units will line up at noon in the parking lot on Route 74 next to the Preschool of the Arts.

The parade is scheduled to step off at 1 p.m., will travel past the historic Tolland Green, turn right onto Old Post Road and will end at Tolland Intermediate School.
A solemn memorial ceremony will follow on the school lawn.

The parade will again feature the Manchester Regional Police and Fire Pipe Band, the 1st Governor's Horse Guard and the Nathan Hale Ancient Fife and Drum Corps.

A float contest will be featured as part of the parade, and a Memorial Day essay contest will take place in May in local schools.
