Holidays for those serving in Afghanistan
Here is an idea for a holiday project for local groups or classrooms.
Jayme did a lovely article on my son and his current service to our country. There are thousands of men and women in Afghanistan alone who will be away from friends and family during the upcoming holiday season. My David is well taken care of, but if anyone or a group with which you are involved, wants to adopt an individual or a platoon or a company, I can get contact info for you.
These soldiers are NOT coming home with the withdrawal Pres. Obama announced this fall. They are in an active fighting area. The young man from Southeastern CT who was buried yesterday was from the 10th Mtn. Division. The withdrawal is effecting the troops in Iraq, not Afghanistan, so letters, cards, care packages, etc would be welcome.
Remember, everything must be personally addressed. Please if you do send items, get a soldier's individual name and address, so it can actually be delivered.

Thanks so much for your thoughts, prayers and acts on their behalf.
