Be Wary of Neighborhood Storm Drains

I've noticed that because of the high winds from recent storms and lack of street sweeping for a consecutive year, many storm drains may be clogged by dirt/debris. I personally cleaned out five storm drains that were blocked by thick deposits of dirt and debris around the Reed Road/Carter Drive/Glenview Terrace region.

Many of us also have had our basements flooded from the recent storms and are draining the water out into the streets where the water is running to these clogged storm drains and pooling onto the roads.

Thankfully today will be sunny, so much of the water is being dried up by the sun. But if you are draining water from your house and letting it run down the street (either from basement flooding or for your personal swimming pool), check on the storm drains and take a couple minutes to clear them of any dirt/sticks/leaves/etc. It'll make cleanup that much faster.
