National Cat Adoption Month, READ Dog Smokey, Seniors Computer Lab and Knitting Classes

All of this can be found in and around Tolland today, June 2, 2011

1. According to Weather.com, the forecast for Tolland calls for a high of 69ºF with high winds, under partly cloudy skies. The overnight low will be 46ºF and clear.
 
2.will be making another appearance at the Tolland Public Library today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to provide children with a chance to read aloud to a non-judgmental audience. Children in grades 1 and up may sign up for a 15-minute block of time to read to Smokey. Readers may bring a favorite book or may come a few minutes early to select a book in the library. Call the library at 860-871-3620 or contact Mrs. B at vbrousseau@tolland.org to let them know you're coming.
 
3. Today at 9 a.m., a free for senior citizens will take place at the Tolland Senior Center. This learning session is open to members as well as drop-ins. If you have questions, call 860-870-3730.
 
4. and have fun with new friends this evening at Utopia Spa and Fitness on Hartford Turnpike in Tolland. Beverages are provided during this event, which is open to beginners and experienced knitters of all ages. A first-time fee of $20 includes supplies and instruction, but if you already have your own supplies, please bring them along. 5. June is National Cat Adoption Month. If you are interested in adopting a furry feline, Tolland Animal Control and Nikolas Canine Rescue of Tolland have lovable cats available.

  • Tigger, a 1-year old neutered and vaccinated male, is a domestic shorthair that will follow you around indoors and out. Tigger is described as a "man's cat" and eats will his paws. For more information, call Tolland Animal Control at 860-871-3676.
  • Pita is about 9-weeks old and is a gorgeous, sleek, black male tabby cat. This uniquely-marked cat is vaccinated, tested and de-wormed. Please email Boulderdash659@hotmail.com or call Nikolas Canine Rescue at 860-688-4969 for more information and to set up a time to come meet him.
  • Dozer is a domestic, shorthair, white male mix. He is an affectionate, one-year old male. He has a black heart shape on his backside and has had all of his vaccinations and de-wormings.
