With the massive layoffs and multiple reports say most sites will be 'zombies' producing bland regional news and advertisements. 95 layoffs in CT leave only 5 workers to cover 169 communities ( http://www.businessinsider.com/massive-layoffs-at-patch-they-put-a-bullet-in-its-head-today-2014-1 ).

Jayme and Chris were excellent reporters who did the best they could. They will both be sincerely missed.

While we can all hope someone else may take a swing at hyper-local, the AOL experiment will keep most away. Relying on only bloggers to maintain local content will become either A) Partisan in their reporting, or B) Lacking the ability to cover the broad range of stories (crime, government, business, culture, etc.) that past editors/reporters have done.

So, it was nice to know you Patch. You won't be recognizable (or probably updated with local news/events) soon enough.
