Send a clear message to our elected officials- Vote No May 6th

As usual,  in the Spring of every year, our town is divided by those who want to increase the education budget, and those who get labeled as "anti-education" or "not caring about our children". The reality of the situation is that in an affluent town like Tollland, everyone cares about education.  The fact is that Tolland residents pay a higher per capita tax than almost every town nearby including Ellington, Somers, Stafford, Coventry, Vernon, Manchester, Willington, Mansfield, Putnam, Pomfret, Union, Lebanon, East Windsor, Enfield, Windham, East Hartford, Suffield, Ashford, Columbia, and Andover and I could go on....  Our student enrollment is down roughly 100 students per year in the last four years and, despite what obsolete data is being quoted by many residents, our current per pupil spending is up nearly 20% in that same time period.  Our grand list growth is almost nonexistent and our population is actually decreasing (due to the high per capita tax perhaps?)  The taxpayers have sent a clear message to our elected officials in the last several budget referendums that there is no more room to give- we cannot look year after year to increase the burden placed on homeowners struggling to manage their own budgets when there is essentially no growth in town.  Join me in voting no  on May 6th.
