THS Cheerleaders Receive Bid to Nationals in Disney

The Tolland High School cheerleaders under coaches Lorna and Ashley Engelbert made history on December 14, 2013 as they were the first team from Tolland to attend UCA High School Regionals.  The team traveled to Ronkonkoma, NY and placed 4th in the Large Varsity division.  However, it didn't stop there, the girls performed so well that they also received a bid to UCA High School Cheerleading Nationals held in Orlando, Florida in February, the most prestigious cheerleading competition for high school cheerleaders.  The girls have worked very hard to get this far and will continue to push themselves in order to compete at the national level.  They will be the only team from Connecticut in the championship and they are determined to represent the state well.
In addition to all the hard work the girls have put in on the mat they have put in tons of extra effort to help ensure their dream of heading to Disney to compete becomes a reality.  A huge part of this additional work has been fundraising.  The girls have been working hard for sponsors and coming up with different ways to raise funds.  The THS cheerleaders will be holding several events including a wine tasting.  The wine tasting will be held on January 24th from 7 to 10pm at Crandall's Lodge in Tolland.  Tickets will be sold for $25 and can be bought from any THS cheerleader or at the door.  The team is also collecting donations through their website and from donations sent to Tolland High School.  Any donation or support is greatly appreciated as the girls try to make their dreams come true! Go Eagles!
