Where Has Zumba Gone?

Unfortunately, it appears that recently announced Tolland Zumba classes have little chance to begin this November. The seven new Zumba classes have low registration which will automatically result in class cancellations.  

Tolland's additional November Zumba classes were announced, earlier this week, by the Tolland Recreation Department through e-blast and email notifications.  This was more than one month after Tolland's Fall 2011 Recreation Program and Registration "Newsletter" was mailed out to Tolland residents. Fall registration began on September 19th.    

Tolland's former Zumba/Fitness instructor informed the Recreation Department, before the start of fall classes, that she was leaving her Tolland position to open a private Zumba/Fitness studio in Willington. Tolland's Fall "Newsletter" included registration information for the Willington studio, thus directing interested Tolland residents to the Willington location. The '"Newsletter" did not include mention of planned additional Zumba classes in Tolland, saying, upon inquiry, that schedules were not finalized.      

The Tolland Recreation Dept. is presently offering a choice of three certified Zumba instructors and Zumba classes on several days and evenings beginning November 1st. It is an opportunity to experience a variety of Zumba classes here in Tolland at a reasonable cost, with instructors who bring experience in authentic Latin dance and Zumba fitness.  

Zumba may not come to Tolland for Fall 2011, but we can hope to see Tolland Zumba classses offered once again in our Winter 2012, Recreation Department schedule of classes.  

Sadly, those of us who prefer to participate in classes closer to home, will miss our long-time Zumba and fitness classes for now, but perhaps not for long.
