Accidents Close Down Mile Hill Road on Sunday

A number of Tolland residents also lost power after a car hit a telephone pole.

Tolland emergency personnel responded to two car accidents on Mile Hill Road this weekend, according to Fire Chief and Public Safety Director John Littell.

A one-car accident on Mile Hill Road resulted in one injury and power outages for surrounding residents, Littell said. A driver hit and snapped a telephone pole just after midnight on Sunday, knocking out power for around 710 Tolland residents and a number of Coventry and Vernon households, as well, Littell said.

One person was taken to Rockville General Hospital, and the road was closed for several hours, according to Littell.
