Another Rollover on I-84 in Tolland Ties Up Traffic

Tolland Public Safety Director John Littell said the first incident involved a tandem trailer unit and took place at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The state Department of Transportation and public safety officials said the highway was fully open just before 11 a.m. The road was closed again eastbound between exit 67 and the Mountain Spring overpass because of a car fire shortly after, Littell said.

Littell said the first crash was between exits 68 and 67.

The tractor-trailer was a tandem unit. It had rolled over and was facing the wrong way, Littell said.

A wrecker went to the scene and a private contractor was called to pump out the truck's fuel tanks, he said.

Fire Department crews quickly responded to the car fire.

Last Thursday, two trucks collided and tied up traffic for hours between exits 68 and 69.
