Connecticut State Police Report Thanksgiving Activity

State police will continue its special enforcement activity throughout the holiday weekend.

Nearly half way through their holiday weekend enforcement initiative, the Connecticut State Police have responded to 4,521 calls for service since midnight on Nov. 23.

Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols will be in place over the entire weekend. State Police will continue this preventive enforcement effort until the end of the Holiday season.  

Here is the breakdown of calls that resulted in either citations or arrests through mid-day Friday:

  • 482 - Speeding
  • 189 - Seatbelt
  • 1,021 - Hazardous moving violations, such as cell phone use, unsafe lane changes, following too close, etc.
  • 22 – driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • 228 – accidents investigated, 23 with injury

The enforcement operation runs through Sunday at midnight.
