Updated: Police Confirm Vernon Resident As Victim of Fatal Crash

Victoria Shustock, 20, died after crashing into a telephone pole on Route 31 on Monday.

State police have confirmed that Vernon resident Victoria Shustock, 20, was killed in the fatal car crash on Route 31 in Tolland, early Monday morning.

According to her Facebook page, Shustock was a 2010 graduate of Rockville High School.

State police have released more information about the fatal crash on Route 31 in Tolland Monday morning.

According to the release from Troop C, police received a call around 4:45 a.m. that a car had struck a telephone pole near 266 Mile Hill Road, just south of Dockerel Road.

When police arrived at the scene, the car was "fully engulfed" in flames on the right shoulder of the road, police said. The car had rolled after hitting the pole, and the driver was ejected from the car, police reported.

Tolland EMS and paramedics pronounced the driver dead on the scene, according to the release.

The victim's name has not yet been released, because police are still informing family members.

Route 31 now has one lane open to traffic, according to Fire Chief and Public Safety Director John Littell.

Police have not yet confirmed the name of the accident victim.

Police and Tolland Fire Department members responded to a fatal car accident on Route 31 between Dockerel Road and Reed Road early Monday morning, according to Fire Chief and Public Safety Director John Littell.

Route 31 is closed due to the accident, and a number of residents lost power as a result. According to the CL&P outage map, at least 68 Tolland customers are still without power.
