I-84 West lanes blocked for Tolland/Vernon commute

Police report that Michael King of East Hartford was the victim killed in the accident.

Tolland Fire Department personnel responded to a fatal car and tractor trailer accident early this morning, according to Tolland Fire Chief John Littell.
He said that one of the drivers was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to Littell, the accident occurred around 5:20 this morning just over the Vernon/Tolland line near Exit 67 on I-84 West. He said that a driver was pinned in a vehicle and that TFD crews extricated the person before pronouncing the fatality.
As of 8:30 a.m., Littell said traffic was still blocked or significantly delayed in the area.
