Firefighters Knock Down Third Brush Fire

The third brush fire in 24 hours occurred near Ladd Road.

Tolland firefighters responded to near Ladd Road and Neff Hill Road on Saturday night.

According to Fire Chief and Public Safety Director John Littell, residents near Buff Cap Road notified emergency officials about the large brush fire, which was not generally near any houses. 

Crystal Lake Fire Department also responded to the fire, bringing the department's forestry truck, and Tolland Public Works Director Clem Langlois, Jr. was first on the scene creating a path into the woods for the trucks, Littell said.

Littell said that the cause of the fire is unknown. 

He added that it has been a draining weekend for first responders.

"Crews have been beaten up pretty badly this weekend," he said.

Littell advised residents to not have campfires while the weather remains so dry.
