Gehring-Grant Hill Intersection Getting a Four-Way Stop

State troopers are also asking residents to slow down.

New traffic control measures are being taken at one of the town's most notorious intersections.

The Tolland Resident Trooper's Office is advising residents that a four-way stop is being installed at the intersection of Grant Hill and Gehring roads on July 22.

A study was conducted and it was determined that a four-way stop sign configuration would make the intersection safer and reduce accidents, state police said.

It was one of several traffic initiatives outlined by resident troopers on Thursday.

Here are the highlights:

• With ongoing construction and paving on Route 74, resident troopers are reminding residents to slow down when approaching the construction zones and that the fines increase for violations that take place within the construction zones. The zones have been marked with signs and a traffic control crew each day.

• During the summer months the Tolland Resident Trooper's Office will be conducting drunken driving patrols and general traffic enforcement efforts on the weekends and on holiday weekends throughout town.

• Resident troopers are making a public appeal for residents to reduce speed and obey traffic signs in town. There have been more instances of speeding on local roads as the summer has progressed, state police said.
