James "Whitey" Bulger Captured in California
The alleged notorious former crime boss and FBI informant has been on the run for nearly 16 years.
James J. "Whitey" Bulger, the alleged leader of Boston's former Winter Hill Gang, ranking member of America's top 10 most wanted and notorious FBI informant, has been arrested in California, according to multiple news sources.
The LA Times announced shortly before midnight (East Coast time) that Bulger had been arrested without incident in Santa Monica.
Bulger fled Boston in 1995 after being told of his pending indictment by former Boston FBI agent John Connolly Jr., according to the Boston Globe.

By 12:30 a.m. Thursday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Web site had posted a red "Captured" flag over Bulger's mugshot.
According to the FBI site, Bulger is wanted on numerous criminal charges including: "Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) - Murder (19 Counts), Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Extortion, Narcotics Distribution, Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering; Extortion; Money Laundering."

The bureau was offering a $2 million reward for any details on Bulger's or his girlfriend Catherine E. Grieg's whereabouts that lead to Bulger's arrest.
