Juvenile Charged After Tolland High Bomb Threat

A 16-year-old is facing a count of second-degree breach of peace and a count of first-degree threatening.

Police charged a 16-year-old juvenile with second-degree breach of peace and first-degree threatening after investigating a bomb threat at Tolland High School on Tuesday.

According to the press release, a THS student found a handwritten, time-specific bomb threat written on the wall of a male bathroom in the school Tuesday morning.

Following the school's emergency plan, the school was placed into lock-in while police searched the building, finding nothing. After further investigation into the incident, the juvenile confessed to making the threat, the release said.

Based on the information from the investigation, the school was not evacuated.

And this kid should have to reimburse the state for the resources used in the search of the school. I'm sure his parents will love having to foot that bill!! Expel him from school as well. It's not fair to the other students to have their learning disrupted by this kid.

I agree! This is the 2nd one since school began a month ago! What is wrong with these kids? Do they not understand the consequences of their actions or do they just not care?

Probably both. The school and the town emergency services need to send a combined message that it's not funny, it's not "clever" and it *will not* be tolerated. I'm convinced they're handling it thus, just as they handled both incidents with the appropriate balance of caution and concern.
