Man Seriously Injured in Early Morning Accident in Tolland

Tolland emergency personnel responded to the single-car accident on Route 195 shortly after midnight.

A 24-year-old man West Hartford was taken to Hartford Hospital for treatment of serious injuries Thursday morning after a vehicle he was driving struck a tree on Route 195, according to fire and police personnel.

The unidentified man was traveling south along Merrow Road (Route 195), near No. 483, when he crossed into the northbound lane and hit several objects before striking a tree, Tolland Fire Department Public Information Officer Seale Tuttle wrote in an e-mail.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage and fire personnel had to use the “Jaws of Life” tool to pry off the car’s roof and doors in order to remove the man from the vehicle, Tuttle wrote. As crews worked on the car, medical personnel from Tolland Fire treated the injured man, Tuttle wrote.
