OMG PD: Too Fast, Too Furious

A look at some remarkable police cases from Connecticut State Police Troop C Barracks.

The Case: Adam M. Joyce, 28, of 1224 Mill St., East Berlin, was arrested by state police on Interstate 84 West and charged with reckless driving and failure to reduce speed and/or move over for an emergency vehicle.

The OMG PD Twist: On July 10, police clocked Joyce travelling at 99 mph near Exit 68 in a construction work zone, according to an arrest report. He was subsequently placed under arrest, according to police. Bond was set at $500. Joyce is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on July 23.

The Case: Lauralee Sparks, 51, of 237 Sunset Ave., Meriden, was arrested by state police on Brendan St. in Stafford and charged with second-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

The OMG PD Twist: On July 10, police said Sparks smashed a man's cell phone and keyed his motorcycle and computer screen during a dispute. Bond was set at $5,000, according to court records. Sparks is scheduled to next appear in Rockville Superior Court on July 17.

The Case: Michael Francis Richey, 56, of 18 West Shore Rd., Ellington, was arrested by state police on West Shore Road and charged with breach of peace and threatening.

The OMG PD Twist: On July 11, state police responded to Richey’s residence to investigate a report of a disturbance. There, police said Richey threatened a man and woman, who were conducting a land survey, with a baseball bat, according to an arrest report. Richey was arrested and transported to Troop C where he was processed and later released on $2,500 non-surety bond, according to an arrest report. He is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on July 24.
