Police Blotter: Domestic Disturbances, Forgery and Larceny, DWI, Accidents

The following reports from the Connecticut State Police Troop C Tolland barracks are for Feb. 11- Feb. 22. They are accurate as of Feb. 22 at 4:30 p.m. Items on this list reflect charges filed and not convictions.

2/11: Forgery and Larceny

State Police issued an arrest for Maryann Terpack, 37, of Willington, on the charges of 3rd degree forgery and 6th degree larceny. Terpack voluntarily arrived at Troop C in Tolland at 1:45 p.m. and was processed for the charges. Her bond was set for $200. She is set to appear at Rockville Superior Court.

2/12: Failing to Obey Stop Sign Leads to Collision, Abrupt Stop Causes Accident

Tamra Daigle, 24, of Stafford Springs, was traveling north on Route 30 approaching the intersection of Hunter Road. Gabriela Beach, 60, of Somers, was traveling south on Rte 30. Wesley Talbot, 17, of Coventry, was heading west on Hunter Road when he traveled through the intersection of Rte 30 and struck the rear of Daigle’s vehicle. The vehicle spun, colliding with Beach’s vehicle. Daigle was transported to Hartford Hospital with a face laceration. Beach and her passenger, Rocco Damato, 60, also of Somers, were taken to St. Francis Hospital with complaints of chest pain. Talbot was not injured. He was issued an infraction for a stop sign violation. Daigle sustained front-end rear damage. The vehicles belonging to Beach and Talbot sustained front-end damage. Tolland Citgo towed the vehicles belonging to Daigle and Beach. Bills Auto Parts towed Talbot’s vehicle.

Carrie Moses, 43, of Ashford, was traveling east on Interstate 84 on the exit 69 off ramp when she stopped for traffic. Jennifer Didomizio, 37, of Waterbury rear ended Moses’s vehicle as she attempted to enter Route 74 and stopped for an oncoming vehicle. No injuries were reported. Didomizio was found at fault and issued a written warning for following too closely. Both vehicles sustained bumper damage.

2/13: Overcorrection Leads to Overturned Vehicle

Stephen Govostes, 49, of 152 Robin Cr, was traveling east on Route 74 near Crestwood Road at 3:14 p.m. When he veered into the oncoming lane, he overcorrected, causing his vehicle to overturn. Govostes complained of right shoulder pain but refused medical attention. He was arrested and charged for DUI and failure to drive right. He is set to appear at Rockville Superior Court on Feb. 28.

2/14: Violation of Restraining Order

A state trooper investigated a reported violation of a restraining order at 39 Sugar Hill Road at 8:37 p.m. The accused, Tou Yang, 44, of Stafford, was arrested for violation of a protective order, which prohibits the accused from entering the victim’s dwelling, among other restrictions. Yang was charged with criminal violation of restraining order. His bond is set for $2500. He is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court.

2/17: Couple’s Disturbance

At 12:58 a.m., a verbal argument between boyfriend, Mark Wojnilo, 36, of 7 Cedar Swamp Rd, and girlfriend, Shannon Clark, 23, of Coventry, escalated to Clark throwing a glass candle at Wojnilo. He sustained a minor laceration to his head but refused medical attention. Clark was arrested and charged with breach of peace, assault with the intent to cause injury and interfering with an officer. Her bond is set for $2,500. She was scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior court on Feb. 17.

2/18: Disagreement Leads to Property Damage

A verbal disagreement at a Peter Green Road residence between two friends escalated to the point where Joshua Ballasy, 28, of 48 Hurlburt Rd., was asked to leave. He refused, becoming highly agitated and causing property damage to the residence and parked trailer. Balassy was arrested and transported to Troop C.

2/20: DWI and Erratically Driving With Suspended License

Bryan Vanmil was traveling westbound on Interstate 84 near exit 67, when he was stopped for traveling 94 mph and driving with an inoperative headlamp. Vanmil explained he was on his way home from a party in Massachusetts with his four passengers and had consumed four to five beers during the evening. He failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DWI and reckless driving, as well as failure to have headlamps. He is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on March 2.

Scott Kuss, 21, of West Hartford, was observed erratically driving on Rhodes Road. He was found to be operating a motor vehicle with a license under suspension, for which he was charged. He was also charged for speeding, failure to drive right and failure to return license after suspension. He is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on March 7.

2/21: Speeding and Attempting to Pass in Snowy Conditions Cause Accidents

Komal Patel, 29, of Vernon, was traveling south on Merrow Road (or Route 195), near Baxter Street at 8:02 a.m. She lost control of her vehicle due to the snow-covered roadway and went off the southbound shoulder on the west side of the road, striking a snow bank before coming to a final rest. Patel declined medical treatment. Bill’s Auto Parts removed her vehicle from snow bank. The vehicle sustained minor front-end damage and could be driven from the scene of the accident. Patel was issued a written warning for traveling too fast for the conditions.

Kurt Berglund, 16, of Wolcott, was traveling in the center lane of Interstate 84 westbound at 1:50 a.m. Brencis Smith, 21, of Hartford, was traveling in the left lane when he attempted to pass Berglund and lost control of his vehicle. Smith struck the driver’s side of Berglund’s vehicle. Both vehicles left the roadway off the right shoulder. No injuries were reported. Bill’s Auto Parts removed both vehicles from the scene. Berglund’s vehicle sustained front-end damage, while Smith’s vehicle sustained damage to the undercarriage.
