Power Restored to Lower Tolland Stage Road Area

About 500 residents to be without power late Tuesday, including those living in a nearby nursing home, according to a Tolland Fire Department official.

A downed power line in front of 14 Tolland Stage Rd. Tuesday night caused about 500 residents to be without power for a few hours, including residents of the Woodlake at Tolland nursing home, according to a Tolland fire official.

The line went down at about 9:30 p.m. forcing the to close the road from Kingsbury Avenue to Sand Hill Road and secure the area, according to Fire Chief John Littell.

Littell, who is also the town director of public safety and emergency management director, said it took CL&P crews about 90 minutes to respond to the downed wire and outage, requiring Woodlake to operate off of a generator until electricity was restored.

During the outage, the fire department transported one resident of the area to for treatment of a condition possibly aggravated by the lack of power; Littell reported late Tuesday that the unidentified resident is recovering.

By midnight Tuesday, CL&P was reporting on its website that power had been restored to the area.
