Tolland Fire Department Collecting Holiday Donations for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Gift cards and toys can be dropped off at the Fire Training Center on Route 195 or Fire Station 140 on Crystal Lake Road.

From the Tolland Fire Department:

Over the past several weeks, several members of the Tolland Fire Department have been volunteering their time with the restoration efforts along the coastline in some of the hardest hit areas by Storm Sandy. The unprecedented severity of damage hasn’t weakened the holiday spirit of the victims, they are strong and are prepared to rebuild and resume their lives as quickly as possible. The members of the Tolland Fire Department would like to continue to assist the families devastated by the storm this Holiday Season by hosting a toy and gift card drive for the victims.

Unwrapped toys are needed for children 0 to 12 year olds along with gift cards from major retail outlets for adolescents 12 to 17 year olds. We are also collecting gift cards to home improvement stores such as The Home Depot and Lowes. This relief effort is in addition to the regular annual toy drive that is hosted by the Fire Department to benefit Tolland families. Please identify any donations made that are specific to “Storm Sandy” relief with a removable label that has “For Sandy” written on it.
