Tolland Police Blotter: April 19-April 25

The following arrest and other police activity reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of April 26, 2013. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

April 19

Melanie Ramsey, 36, of 7 Winterbourne Vw. in Tolland, was arrested after troopers were dispatched to the Big Y store in Tolland for a reported shoplifter. Upon arrival, troopers met with a loss prevention officer of Big Y who explained that Big Y wished to press charges against Ramsey. She was arrested without incident and charged with sixth-degree larceny. Ramsey was released on a $500 non-surety bond. 

April 20

Peter C. Anderson, 58, of 79 Webber Rd. in Tolland, was stopped for erratic operation on Merrow Road in Tolland. He was subsequently arrested for DWI without incident and was transported to Troop C for processing. Anderson was later released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on May 14. 

April 21

A vehicle was traveling west on Gehring Road in Tolland when the operator lost control of his vehicle and struck a number of small trees, causing private property damage. The operator evaded the scene of the incident on foot and did not stop. There were no known injuries and this incident remains under investigation.

April 22

A 59-year-old Ellington woman was traveling eastbound on I-84 in Tolland and exited off the highway via the exit 68 off ramp. Another vehicle was behind the Ellington woman and when she slowed to stop at the traffic light at the intersection of Merrow Road, the vehicle rear-ended her. The vehicle then evaded the scene. The Ellington woman was not injured and her vehicle was driven from the scene.

Michael J. Prescott, 48, of 139 Johnson Rd., Apt. A in Tolland, was arrested for four counts of sixth-degree larceny. He was processed and given a court date of May 7. Prescott was released on a $500 bond. 

Mark S. Potvin, 53, of 11 Hughs Rd. in Tolland, was located at his residence and taken into custody on an outstanding warrant issued by the Rockville Superior Court for second-degree failure to appear. He was released after posting a $1,500 surety bond.

April 23

Shelley Briere, 31, of 139 Johnson Rd., Apt. A in Tolland, was arrested on a warrant from Rockville Superior Court for sixth-degree larceny. She was transported to Troop C without incident and was processed. Briere was reelased on a $250 non-surety bond and issued a court date of May 8.
