Tolland Police Blotter: August 3 - 9

The following arrest and other police activity reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of August 9

August 4

Police responded to a two-car accident on Grant Hill Road when Ellington resident Thomas Boberek drove through the stop sign at the intersection of Grant Hill and New Road, police said, causing a collision with a car driven by a Storrs resident. No injuries were reported, but both cars were towed from the scene, according to police. Boberek was issued an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign, police said.

Police responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Old Post Road and Mountain Spring Road after Mansfield Center resident Claire Murtha-paradis struck a car traveling on Old Post, police said. No injuries were reported, and Murtha-paradis was issued a written warning for failure to grant right of way, according to police.

Jason David Devoid, 33, of 67 Old Kent Road South in Tolland was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation and first-degree unlawful restraint, according to police. Police report that Devoid was charged after officers responded to a reported disturbance at a home in Stafford Springs. Bond was set at $25,000, police said.

Ryan Masi, 32, of 22 Scott Street in East Hartford was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive at a reasonable distance, according to police. Police report that Masi struck another car while driving on Route 195 in Tolland. No injuries were reported.

August 5

Police responded to a one-car accident involving Tolland resident Meredith Hagaman after her car hydroplaned, spun out and hit a barrier on the left shoulder of I-84 in Vernon, police report. Police said the crash caused minor injuries.

Police responded to a two-car accident after Tolland resident Kyle Bielawiec struck the car traveling in front of him on Route 195 in Mansfield, police said. No injuries were reported. Bielawiec was found at fault for failure to maintain a reasonable distance between vehicles, police said.

August 6

Police responded to a two-car accident on I-84 in Tolland involving Tolland resident Kenneth Davidson. Police said a tractor trailer pulled into the lane Davidson was traveling in, in front of his car. Davidson attempted to change lanes to avoid the trailer, but lost control of his car, leading to a collision, police said. No injuries were reported.

Juan Perez, 37, of 282 Clinton Street in New Britain was charged with reckless speeding and second-degree failure to appear, police report. According to police, Perez was stopped on I-84 in Tolland after he was clocked traveling at 110 mph in a 65 mph zone.
