Tolland Police Blotter: December 16 - 23

December 16

Robert Merza, 51, of 73 Weigold Road in Tolland was charged with slow speed, operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive right, according to police. Merza was seen driving erratically on Route 195 in Mansfield, police report.

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 195 near Big Y after Tolland resident Brian Ritchie struck a South Windsor resident's car, police report. According to police, Ritchie was issued a written warning for following too close. No injuries were reported. 

December 17

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 74. Police report that Tolland resident Davida Ridzon struck a car navigating the intersection of Route 74 and Burbank Road. No injuries were reported. 

Sherzod Frishman, 22, of 49 Carroll Ave., in Norwich was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, failure to drive in proper lane and failure to drive at reasonable distance while driving on Route 195 in Tolland, according to police.

December 18

Police responded to an accident in Ellington involving a Tolland resident. Police report that Thomas Clapprood struck the back end of an Ellington woman's car after she stopped for a traffic control signal on Route 83. No injuries were reported. 

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 30 after Windsor resident Agnes Lewis rear-ended a Stafford Springs driver traveling with four passengers, according to police. The driver and two passengers of the struck car were taken to Rockville Hospital for evaluation, police report. Lewis was given a written warning for following too close, according to police. 
 

December 21

Brian Sweet, 31, of 45 Columbine Road in Tolland was charged with breach of peace and criminal violation of protective order, according to police. Police report that troopers responded to a disturbance complaint involving Sweet and an ex-girlfriend. Sweet was then located and arrested on the above charges, police said.

Police report that they arrested Sweet at a later time for an outstanding arrest warrant, with a charge of violation of probation. Bond was set at $20,000.  
 

December 22

Ryan Labieniec, 30, of 204 Kozley Road in Tolland was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive in proper lane, according to police.

December 23

David Santangelo, 28, of 268 Hartford Turnpike in Tolland was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, according to police. Police report that Santangelo evaded the scene after backing into a parked car at 62 Merrow Road and was arrested after a series of field sobriety tests.
