Tolland Police Blotter: July 30 - Aug. 5

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of Aug. 5, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Aug. 2 

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 30. Ellington resident Chester Zych was attempting to make a left turn when Tolland resident Richard Delhaie collided head on into Zych’s vehicle. Both drivers were taken to Rockville Hospital for minor injuries.

Philip Jay, 20, of 20 High Ridge Dr., Tolland, was charged with failure to report a change in vehicle appearance or equipment, failure to carry a license, operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs and a stop sign violation. Jay was stopped on Merrow Road in Tolland and given a number of field sobriety test, which he failed, according to the police report.

Aug. 5

Police responded to an accident on Interstate 84 after Tolland resident Rebecca Tourtellotte struck a barrier on the highway. According to the police report, Tourtellotte attempted to change lanes, but swerved due to traffic and lost control of the vehicle. She sustained only minor injuries.

Placido Cardona, 32, of 36 School St., Apt. 2, Hartford, was charged with failure to use flashing lights on a slow moving motor vehicle, operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane. Cardona was arrested after he was observed driving erratically on Interstate 84 near Exit 68.
