Tolland Police Blotter: July 6 - 13

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of July 13, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

July 6

Viateur Mathieu, 55, of 151 Willie Circle in Tolland, was charged with reckless driving and operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, according to police. Police report that Mathieu was stopped on I-84 in Vernon.

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 74 in Tolland. A Columbia resident's car was struck when another driver entered the intersection from an I-84 off ramp. Minor injuries were reported, police said.

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 74 after a Vernon resident attempted to turn left onto the I-84 exit 69 onramp when Tolland resident Jane Simao struck the car from behind, police report. No injuries were reported. Simao was issued a written warning for following too close, police said. 

July 7

Police responded to a one-car accident on Gehring Road after a car carrying four Tolland residents was unable to stop at a stop sign, due to speed, and drove through a lawn, hit a tree and struck multiple mailboxes at 423 Gehring Road, police said. No injuries were reported. The passengers were all juveniles, with the exception of passenger and Tolland resident Michael Bryne, according to the police report.

July 8

Police are investigating a burglary/vandalism at 164 Shenipsit Lake Road. Police report that the address was burglarized while the occupants were on vacation. The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information can contact Troop C at 860-896-3200 or the Tolland Resident State Trooper office at 860-875-8911.

July 10

Adam Joyce, 28, of 1224 Mill Street in East Berlin, was charged with reckless driving greater than 85 mph and failure to reduce speed and or move over for emergency vehicle, according to police. Joyce was clocked doing 99 mph in a construction/work zone on I-84 in Tolland, police report. 

July 11

Steven Tozier, 38, of 67 1/2 Spring Street in Vernon was charged with breach of peace and second-degree reckless endangerment after getting into an altercation with a 13-year-old at on June 8, police report. Tozier turned himself in on an active arrest warrant, police said. The case is now closed, according to police.

June 12

A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with twelve counts of third-degree burglary from a motor vehicle, ten counts of sixth-degree larceny and two-counts of fourth-degree larceny for incidents on Reed Road and Carter Drive, police report. He turned himself in at Troop C on an outstanding warrant, according to police.
