Tolland Police Blotter: June 3-9

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of June 10, 2011. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

June 3

Three Tolland residents, including two children, were taken to the hospital after being involved in a car accident on Cider Mill Road. Ernest Lewis, of Vernon, crashed into a car driven by Tolland resident Emily Carr as Lewis was pulling out of the baseball field parking lot at Crandall Park. Carr and her two child passengers were sent to the hospital for medical evaluation. Lewis and his passenger were also transported to Rockville Hospital for evaluation.

Tolland resident Erik Emanuele was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Route 190 in Stafford. Jeff Faria, of Stafford Springs, hit Emanuele as Faria was making a left turn. No injuries were reported.

June 5

Derrick J. Donovan, 30, of 44 Tolland Ave., Unit 40, Stafford Springs, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespass, third-degree criminal mischief, breach of peace, criminal attempt, third-degree assault, threatening and first-degree reckless endangerment. Police arrested Donovan after responding to the Electric Blue Bar, 62 Merrow Rd., where two men were reportedly threatening people and property with baseball bats. No personal injuries were reported, but the bar suffered minor property damage. Donovan’s bond was set at $15,000.

Shaun A. Nigro, 29, of Bristol, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespass, first-degree criminal mischief, interfering with a police officer/simple assault, breach of peace, criminal attempt and first-degree reckless endangerment. Police arrested Nigro after responding at the Electric Blue Bar, 62 Merrow Rd., where two men were reportedly threatening people and property with baseball bats. No injuries were reported and the bar suffered minor property damage. Nigro’s bond was set at $15,000.

June 6

Kangde Yao, 22, of San Francisco, CA, was arrested and charged with reckless driving. Officers arrested Yao on Interstate 84 east after recording his speed at 104 mph in a 65 mph zone. Yao was taken to Troop C headquarters where he was processed and released on $500 cash bond. He was assigned a court date for June 21 in Rockville Superior Court.

June 7

Ozgur Mustafa, 28, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested and charged with slow speed/failure to use flashing lights on a slow motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive right. Mustafa was observed driving erratically on Interstate 84 west near Exit 68. He was taken into custody and given a court date of June 15 in Rockville Superior Court. Mustafa’s bond was set at $500.

June 8

Tolland Fire Department ambulance brought Jamie Hilton to Rockville Hospital after a three-car accident on Route 31 in Tolland. Patrick P. Hnatow, of Coventry, was following a school bus, with Hilton, of Tolland, and Jennifer Hickey, of Coventry, following in the two cars immediately behind him. When Hnatow came to a stop behind the bus, Hickey crashed into Hilton's car, causing a collision between the three cars. All three vehicles were moderately damaged and towed from the scene by Bill's Automotive. 

Andrey Polgun, 41, of 35 White Birch Dr., Tolland, was arrested and charged with risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct. Polgun was arrested after police responded to an incident on White Birch Drive. He was released on $1000 non-surety bond and assigned a court date of June 9 at Rockville Superior Court.
