Tolland Police Blotter: March 16 - 23

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of March 23, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

March 18

Teresa Smith, 47, of 20 Earl Street in Vernon was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive upon right, according to police. Police report that Smith was seen driving erratically on Mile Hill Road in Tolland before she was stopped.

March 19

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 195 after Vernon resident Leonard Gonzalez struck Willington resident James Beaver as Beaver was making a left turn out of a business driveway, police report. According to police, Gonzalez swerved to try to avoid the collision and also struck a tree off the shoulder of Route 195 after the initial hit. No injuries were reported. The accident is still under investigation.

Police responded to a one-car accident on I-84 eastbound in Tolland when a driver lost control of the car and hit the concrete center median. Police report that the driver evaded the scene of the accident.

A Tolland resident was involved in a car accident in Mansfield. Police report that Craig Nussbaum was driving south on Route 195 when Somers resident Chelsea McCallum collided with him while turning out of a parking area. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were towed due to damage. McCallum was issued an infraction for failure to grant right of way at an intersection, police report.

March 21

Adam Charles Beam, 22, of 165 Kingston Drive in East Hartford was charged with operating under the influence, evading responsibility, operating too fast for conditions and failure to wear a seat belt, according to police. Police report that Beam was traveling on Metcalf Road when he lost control of the car, traveling off the shoulder and into the woods. Beam and one passenger were uninjured, but a second passenger was transported to Rockville Hospital for minor injuries, police report. The car was towed from the scene.

Tolland resident Emily Golec was involved in an accident on Route 275 in Mansfield, police report. According to police, Golec was driving through the Route 275 and Route 32 intersection when Monroe resident Matthew Fuller failed to give the right of way, and the cars collided. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were towed. Fuller was issued an infraction for failure to grant right of way to oncoming traffic while making a left turn, police report.

Police responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Goose Lane and Anderson Road after Tolland resident Kyle Medeiros failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a car driven by Tolland resident Patrick Couture, police report. Medeiros was issued an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign, according to police. Couture declined treatment from Tolland Ambulance, police report.

Kristin Messier, 19, of 60 Old Town Road, Apartment 114 in Vernon was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and operating with unsafe tires, according to police. Police were investigating a disabled vehicle on Ellington Road when officers suspected that Messier was under the influence, police report.

March 22

Police responded to a . According to police, Coventry resident Richard Paton was driving his motorcycle north on Route 195 and collided with a car driving on Route 195 as he turned left onto I-84. The car was driven by West Hartford resident Daniel Pawlina, police report. Paton was taken to Hartford Hospital, and both vehicles were towed. The accident is under investigation.
