Tolland Police Blotter: March 23 - 30

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of March 30, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

March 23

Police responded to a report of criminal mischief at 567 Old Post Road. According to police, the resident's Toyota Sequoia SUV was found with its rear left window damaged. The car was parked in front of the residence, police report. Anyone with information or reports of suspicious activity on Old Post Road are asked to call Trooper Laboy at 860-896-3200. The case is under investigation.

March 24

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 195 after Mansfield resident Elizabeth Vitullo struck another vehicle while pulling out of the , according to police. No injuries were reported. Vitullo was issued a written warning for failure to grant right of way, police report.

Emilyann Frances Kloter, 19, of 356 Stickney Hill Road in Union was charged with fifth-degree larceny, according to police. Police report that Kloter turned herself in on an active arrest warrant for an incident that occurred at in Tolland.

March 25

Heather Ruth Gero, 24, of 89 Wildwood Road in Tolland was charged with speeding on the highway up to 85 mph, operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive in proper lane, according to police. Police report that they stopped Gero after observing her speeding and failing to maintain her lane on I-84 in Tolland.

March 26

Police are investigating a burglary at a Hilltop Road home. Police report that several items were taken from the house between 8 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. The case is under investigation.

Police are investigating vehicle break ins at the located on Merrow Road. Police report that someone broke into two vehicles behind the business after 6 p.m. Saturday and before 7 a.m. Monday. According to police, tools were used to damage the door handles and enter the vehicles, from which the stereos were stolen. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Laboy at 860-896-3200. The case is still under investigation.


March 27

Police responded to a two-car accident on Gehring Road. Police report that Tolland resident Michael McDermott was at a stop sign when a car coming from Grant Hill Road misjudged the turn and pushed McDermott's car off of the road. No injuries were reported. Tolland resident Karen Finik, the owner of the second car, was issued an infraction for violation of improper right turn, according to police.

Police report that Tolland resident Cheryl Clarkin was involved in a four-car accident on I-84 in Vernon, after an unknown driver swerved abruptly around another vehicle, causing a chain reaction of crashes. 

Police responded to a in Tolland after the tractor trailer collided with a dump truck, slowing traffic for several hours, according to police. New Jersey resident Jack Montelbano said that he was distracted by sun glare when he struck the other vehicle, according to the police report. He was issued an infraction for following too close by a commercial vehicle, police report. No injuries were reported.
