Tolland Police Blotter: Nov. 1 - 9

The following arrest and other police activity reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of November 9, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

November 1

Police responded to a three-car accident on I-84 eastbound in Tolland when New Jersey resident Anthony Decandia attempted to change lanes, struck another car, lost control of his vehicle and hit a third car, police said. Decandia and a passenger were taken to Hartford Hospital for precautionary measures, according to police. Decandia was issued an infraction for failure to drive in established lane, police report.

November 4

Police responded to a two-car accident on Mile Hill Road when a Tolland minor pulled off the roadway to turn around, police report. As the driver took a left turn on Mile Hill Road, the car collided with another vehicle traveling on the road, according to police. The Tolland minor was issued a written warning for improper turn, police said. No injuries were reported.

November 5

Jason Haberman, 40, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespass, according to police. Police report that Haberman was in the custody of Big Y security for shoplifting when he cut his throat with a knife in the security office. Police said that Haberman was subdued and taken to Rockville Hospital for his injuries.

November 7

Police responded to a three-car accident on the exit 69 offramp of I-84 in Tolland. A series of collisions occurred when the first car involved slowed down for traffic and the others were unable to stop in time, police report. Putnam resident Donald Brisco and Ashford resident Ali Iddir were issued infractions for traveling too fast for the conditions, police said.

Erika Cieslak, 33, of 268 Hartford Turnpike in Tolland was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive right, according to police. Cieslak lost control of her car while driving on the snow-covered roadway on Route 30, police said.

Police assisted a driver on Tolland Green after Tolland resident Vasinee Long broke down north of Old Post Road due to mechanical problems, police said. According to the police report, Long had lost control of her car earlier on Route 275 in Mansfield and struck a tree. Long continued driving until stopping on Tolland Green. Police said that the car was towed and Long was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for the conditions, which were snowy.

Police responded to a one-car accident on Hunter Road when a Willimantic resident lost control of his car and struck a tree, police said. No injuries were reported.
