Tolland Police Blotter: Nov. 20 - 29

The following arrest and other police activity reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of November 29, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

November 20

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 195 when Stafford Springs resident Michael Dunay attempted to pull out of a plaza and struck the car driven by Tolland resident Mandi Chater, police said. No injuries were reported. Dunay was issued a written warning for failure to grant right of way, according to police.

Jeffrey James Wolff, 24, of 184 Kate Lane in Tolland was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and restricted turns/failure to give properly right of way, according to police.

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 74 at the intersection of Burbank Road when Tolland resident Aaron Gilberto skidded out of control and struck a car traveling in the opposite direction, police said. No injuries were reported. Gilberto was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for the conditions, police report.

November 24

Brian Kearney, 20, of 1117 Main Street in Coventry was charged with speeding, operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and operation of motor vehicle by minor having elevated blood alcohol content, according to police. Kearney was stopped on Walbridge Hill Road in Tolland, according to the police report.

November 25

Janice Beebe, 66, of 1319 Tolland Stage Road in Tolland was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal violation of protective order: non-threatening, according to police. Bond was set at $5,000.

November 26

Police responded to two multi-vehicle crashes on I-84 westbound, according to Troop C press releases.

In the first release, police said that Massachusetts resident Christine Marold rear-ended the car in front of her, which had slowed down due to intense sun glare. Marold said that the sun glare prevented her from seeing the car in front of her slow down, according to the release.

Marold was transported via Vernon Ambulance to Rockville Hospital for a facial injury, police said. The driver and passenger of the car in front of her were also taken to Rockville Hospital for complaints of pain, police report. Tolland Ambulance transported them.

Marold was issued a written warning for following too close, police said.

According to the second release, Anand Swaro Amar struck another vehicle after changing lanes. The car in front of him had also slowed down due to sun glare, police report.

One passenger was taken to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar for chest pain. Vernon Ambulance and Tolland Ambulance transported the other victims to Hartford Hospital, as well, according to the release.

The accident is still under investigation.
