Tolland Police Blotter: October 14- 21

The following arrest reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of October 21, 2011.

October 14

Police responded to a two-car accident on Route 195 near Goose Lane. Police report that Susan Machuga of Tolland was traveling on Route 195 when Willington resident Alan Ference struck the rear corner of Machuga's car when leaving a parking lot. No injuries were reported and neither vehicle was towed. Ference was issued a written warning for failure to grant the right of way when making a left turn, according to police.

Tolland resident Cody Artruc was traveling on Shenipsit Lake Road when his car struck a utility pole off of the right shoulder of the road, according to police. Police say he was issued an infraction for traveling too fast for the conditions.

Brian J. Eathorne, 45, of 42 Sandy Dr. in Tolland was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree assault. Eathorne was in a verbal argument with his wife when the fight escalated and Eathorne cut his wife's hand with a serrated kitchen knife, according to police. Police report that the victim was taken to Rockville General Hospital for treatment. Bond was set at $5,000.

October 15

Mary M. Pappas, 48, of 124 Woodbine St. in Waterbury was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol. Police said that they received several 911 calls about an erratic driver near Exit 68 on I-84 in Tolland. Police located the car in the I-84 eastbound rest area where the driver was arrested.

Chelsea Owens, 18, of 14 Earle St. in Milford was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive in the proper lane. Owens was arrested near Exit 69 on I-84 in Tolland, according to police.

October 18

Police are investigating a burglary at 127 Gehring Road that occurred between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on October 18. Police report that a laptop and jewelery were taken.

October 19

Three Tolland teens were involved in a car accident on Rhodes Road. Police report that the 16-year-old driver struck two trees off the shoulder of the road. The driver declined medical treatment, but the two passengers were taken to Rockville General complaining of minor pain, according to police. The police report noted that the road was wet at the time of the accident. The driver was found at fault for traveling too fast for the conditions and issued an infraction for violation of passenger restrictions by a 16-year-old operator, according to police.

October 21

Police are investigating a report of a stolen TORO snowblower, taken from an unsecured outdoor storage area at Rockville Equipment, according to the police report. It is estimated that the snowblower was stolen between October 4 and October 11. The equipment is worth $1,406.49, according to police.

Sean K. Morin, 23, of 51 Scott Dr. in Vernon was charged with failure to carry license, operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive in the proper lane. He was stopped on Route 195 in Tolland, according to police.
