Tolland Police Blotter: Sept. 14 - 20

The following arrest and other police activity reports, provided by Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland, are accurate as of Sept. 21, 2012. Items on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Sept. 19

A single-car accident on Interstate 84 in Tolland sent one Stafford Springs man to Rockville Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Joshua Zwingelstein, 25, was traveling west at 5:25 p.m. in his 2000 Toyota Camry when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the wire rope guardrail.

An 18-year-old Tolland man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after striking a telephone pole and then flipping his car on Old Post Road at 10:31 p.m. Thomas Elliott of Shenipsit Road lost control of his 1993 Toyota Tercel on a turn near the town's highway garage while traveling at a high rate of speed, according to police. He was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Hartford for treatment of unspecified, but non-life threatening injuries. In addition to the driving under the influence charge, police charged Elliott with failure to drive right and traveling at an unreasonably fast speed.
