Tolland Public Safety: Sign Up for Tolland Alert

The town will keep residents posted on important emergency information through the Tolland Alert system.

From the Tolland Public Safety Department:

Since the storms of 2011 and with the state of our economy, several residents have eliminated their traditional landline (AT&T) and VoIP (Comcast) telephone services and are exclusively relying on cellular devices for communication. In the coming weeks, Everbridge will update our white pages database as a part of the service contract. This update will add new landline and VoIP numbers and delete existing numbers that have been disconnected since the database was created in October 2011. If you have disconnected your traditional landline or VoIP service since last October, there is a great likelihood that your landline information will be deleted from the database. Residents and businesses are encouraged to register with “Tolland Alert” to ensure Town Officials can reach you during an emergency. Visit www.tolland.org and click on the “Tolland Alert” button to register or modify your existing registration today.

The Town of Tolland also has the ability to broadcast community alert’s to residents and businesses about severe weather watches, major fire or police events, major road closures, public health advisories, vital town news or events, winter parking ban notices, town service updates, Water Commission advisories, and WPCA advisories using the “Tolland Alert” system by Everbridge Aware. Residents and businesses that register may elect to subscribe to all or any one of the notification categories. Messages can be sent on any communication path desired; cell phone, home phone, email, text messaging, fax, pager, PDA and more – ensuring that residents and businesses receive time sensitive information and important public service announcements in minutes. Residents and businesses may self-register and provide additional contact information or opt out of community alerts at any time. “Tolland Alert” is flexible and scalable to meet your needs. All contact information is private and maintained in secure database.

"We have a commitment to our citizens to protect them from any danger that threatens our community. The ability to reach all residents quickly during an emergency to warn them and provide guidance is critical to upholding that commitment, which is why we have renewed our subscription with Everbridge Aware to provide “Tolland Alert.” We have been using the system for almost a year now and the feedback from the public has been very positive“said Steven Werbner, Town of Tolland Town Manager. “The Everbridge emergency notification system ensures the Town of Tolland is able to react quickly and efficiently to provide accurate information during a natural disaster or other crisis.”

As Governor Malloy has recommended, all Connecticut residents should take the threat of the impending storm seriously and prepare their families, pets, property and themselves for the possibility of wide-spread power outages, flooding and wind damages. Residents should monitor the weather situation closely as the storm progresses towards our area.

The Town of Tolland will use the “Tolland Alert” & “Tolland E-Blast” systems to relay important information to our residents. As a back-up, information will also be disseminated through Tolland’s Face Book pages (Town of Tolland, CT & Tolland Works) as well as Tolland Patch.

Visit www.tolland.org and click on the “Tolland Alert” button to register or modify your existing registration. On Face Book you can “follow” us at Tolland Works and “like” us at Town of Tolland, CT.
