Tolland Resident Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charge

Carl G. Koplin was a family practice physician in Vernon and a Boy Scout leader before being charged in 2010.

Tolland resident Carl Koplin, 55, entered a plea on Wednesday before a federal judge in Hartford to one count of receipt of child pornography, according to a U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut press release.

The release said that Koplin, a former family practice physician in Vernon and Boy Scout leader, was charged after FBI agents used a file sharing program and traced images and videos of child pornography to an IP address at Koplin's home. After seizing his desktop computer and other computer components in July 2010, police found thousands of images and videos of child pornography, amounting to more than 800 gigabytes, the release said.

Koplin also told federal agents searching his home that he used a file sharing program to trade images of child pornography, according to the release.
