Tolland Resident Trooper Sgt. Scott Smith Promoted

With Smith moving up to lieutenant, Tolland will be welcoming a new sergeant at the resident trooper office.

Tolland Resident Trooper Sergeant Scott Smith has been promoted to lieutenant and will be leaving Tolland, Town Manager Steven Werbner confirmed.

Werbner said that Smith has shown exceptional service to the town during his two years as sergeant.

"Scott was a great mix of administrator and trooper," Webner said. "He worked very well with town staff."

Werbner said he has asked the state police to include him in the selection process for Tolland's new sergeant. Werbner also helped out when Smith was going through the application process. He estimates that state police will have narrowed down the candidates by mid-January.

Sgt. Chris Sharland is serving as Tolland's acting sergeant in the interim, Werbner said.
