Tolland's Pistol Permit Rate: 7.6 Percent

All together, 1,147 Tolland residents have pistol permits, according to a database compiled by the New Haven Register.

A total of 1,147 Tolland residents have obtained pistol permits, equating to a pistol permit rate of 7.6 percent, according to a state-wide database created by the New Haven Register.

The database uses information from the State of Connecticut and 2010 population data to map out pistol permit rates by town. Tolland ranks 55th on the list. 

Canaan and Union take the top spots on the database, with respective pistol permit rates of 13.5 and 12.1 percent.

Around 170,000 Connecticut residents have pistol permits, according to the New Haven Register.

Tolland residents have to apply for pistol permits through the Tolland Resident State Trooper Office. Information on the application process is available on the Connecticut General Assembly website.

Tolland Town Manager Steven Werbner recently submitted a Letter to the Editor calling for more thorough pistol permit applications.
