A press release from the office of Chris Murphy:

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) today sent a letter to Rupert Murdoch, chairman and CEO of News Corporation, urging him not to broadcast the NASCAR NRA 500 race on Fox Sports. Fox Sports, which is owned by News Corporation, plans to air the race next week as a part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Last month, Murphy sent a letter to NASCAR CEO Brian France to call on him to reconsider his decision to sanction the race. While thanking Mr. France for his generous personal contributions to the Newtown community, Murphy requested that NASCAR refrain from entering the current debate over gun reform in Congress and prevent the NRA from having the title role in the April 13th race.

“The horror that unfolded on December 14th at Sandy Hook Elementary School has sparked a national conversation about the adequacy of our gun laws,” Murphy wrote to Murdoch. “Considering your support of sane gun control measures and the extreme nature of the NRA, I urge you to not broadcast this race on April 13th. Inserting Fox Sports in this debate at this critical time will give credence to an extreme organization that is opposed to reasonable policies to stem gun violence.”

As much as I am Sad for what happened in Sandy Hook, GUNS DID NOT kill the kids and teachers. It was a Human Being that by law had the right to posses a gun. Not every other gun owners fault he chose to do as he did. Not everyone with a gun is a mass murder.

And thus begins the war on the First Amendment.

Chris Murphy is a buffoon. Plain and simple.

What an idiot. Just because a race is sponsored by the NRA has nothing to do with what happened in Sandy Hook (will never deny its a tragic situation but its not like the guns got up and fired themselves). Fox and Brian France (NASCAR) are probably laughed at the letters they received from this moron thinking yeah we are going to loose how much money if we do that. NASCAR nor Fox nor Texas Motor Speedway are supporting anything like he suggests they are just getting sponsor money from them, its not like TMS or NASCAR gave the naming rights to the race to the NRA for free. Also its not like the NRA did anything wrong to contribute to Sandy Hook. I bet the fool wouldn't be complaining if it was an anti-gun lobbyist group sponsoring the race.

Maybe it's just me but it seems that if Congress spent more time doing their frigging job and less time trying to spread their liberal (and consrvative) agendas... we MIGHT get this country back on track. Shame on you Chris Murphy. This isn't about Sandy Hook... and everyone knows that!

Guns and the NRA don't kill people, people kill people. And they don't just use guns to do it. They set fires, so let's ban all matches, lighters , and don't forget the gasoline too. They use knives so no more knives to butter your bread either. They even use their bare hands so I guess that would mean we need to cut off everyones hands?????? Get a grip and do your work in Washington and get this nation back to what it used to be, A strong, vital nation within the world and let us take care of our kids in our own way and I mean let us discipline them the way kids used to be disciplined and not mollycoddle and placate them.

@Bonnie.. The people that we have up in DC right now will never get us back to what we were. All they want to do is make us their sheep and have us follow along with whatever they say. First step with that was ObamaCare and now they are trying to take our guns away. People will argue that they are not trying to take our guns away but it would be impossible to just come and take them away so they are going to slowly add laws that make it harder and harder to purchase and possess a firearm. I also love how the media is constantly reporting on it and any and every crime involving a gun but you are barely hearing anything about this idiot so called Dr that was plain out murdering newborn babies once they had took a breath (and in some cases screamed). The reason is that it would give credence to anti abortion causes and they are not going to cover that.

One more thing. On Chris Murphy's Facebook page someone posted a letter from a few years back (2009 I believe). The person that posted it asked Murphy to support a measure to have a federal right to carry law and this idiot says he can't do it because of state rights (which I can understand, the federal gov't does need to step down). If it was state rights then why is he changing his mind now as the gun control issue should be up to states and not the federal government if you used his original logic. I guess that is what he is lacking, logic.
