Inland & Wetlands Commission Vacancies

There are three vacancies on the commission.

From the Town of Tolland:

The Tolland Inland Wetland Commission is in need of three members, one regular member and two alternates.  The Inland Wetlands Commission regulates development in and around the wetlands and watercourses of Tolland through the application of State Statutes and the Tolland Inland Wetland and Watercourses Regulations.

The Commission meets on the first and third Thursday of the month, as needed. The meetings usually last an hour to an hour and a half, although they can run twice that long for an occasional application. Although knowledge of engineering, ecology, biology, law and/or construction would be useful, most of the past members have not started out with these skills.  What is required is an interest in protecting Tolland’s water resources and a willingness to learn. The DEEP runs an excellent training program for Wetlands Commissioners and attendance at and participation in the meetings will increase your knowledge of the statutes, regulations and goals of the local commission.

Interested candidates are invited to submit a letter of interest and/or resume to: Town Manager’s Office, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084; or via e-mail to the Town Manager, Steven Werbner at:swerbner@tolland.org.
