Why are you running for office?

This is my first run for office of any kind. Marilee Bebee-Kostrun and David Barrows approached me and asked if I would consider running for the P&Z Commission based on my ties to Tolland and some experience I have with site plans. I have always wanted to serve the town in some way so this seemed to be a perfect opportunity to get involved. Keeping the charm of Tolland while helping to plan for economic development going forward is exciting to me.

How will you work with residents to ensure that their issues are addressed as the Tolland Village Area moves forward?

Working with residents from ideation to creation of any concept for the town is crucial. Residents' issues are best addressed when they are informed and involved from the beginning of a project. As the Tolland Village Area moves forward, that same involvement and collaboration will help the commission plan for the type of growth that Tolland residents desire. As we move on to the concept of the Technology Center, lessons learned with the Village Area will be incorporated to again hear the voices and desires of the residents. The residents and businesses most affected by development are often the most heard. We are encouraging all residents to become involved and attend as many meetings as possible to help the commission develop the type of growth that will benefit Tolland going forward.
