Why are you running for office?

  • I am running for office because I believe that we need to continue to make improvements to the education system. We need to provide our students with a foundation that will allow them to achieve in today's global society.
  • As a board member I would bring my analytical skills and my abilities as an advocate that I gained from my legal background. I would also utilize the lessons I learned in Afghanistan from building an education system from the ground up.
  • I would work toward a sustainable education system that the citizens of Tolland will support and will create competitive students for top schools in the U.S.

How do you plan on creating a budget that provides a good education for Tolland students, but is one that you can defend before the Town Council and gain approval from the Tolland voters?

Approximately 79 percent of the Town’s budget goes to the education system, in today’s economy we have to be stewards of the citizens of Tolland tax dollars. As a member of the Board of Education I plan on working with my fellow board members to strike a balance that meets the intent of the citizens but also being a good advocate and supporter of our education system. Though we are facing difficult economic times we still have a responsibility to our future generations to provide them with an education that makes them competitive to get into top schools, or prepares them for other future endeavors. As a member of the board I will ensure we are transparent about what we need and we will work with the town council to achieve the goal of providing a sustainable, competitive education system.
