P&ZC Approves Pharmacy Drive-Through Regulations

Drive-through pharmacies will now be allowed in the Gateway Design District, which encompasses the area south of I-84 to Rhodes Road and Goose Lane.

The Planning & Zoning Commission approved regulations allowing drive-through pharmacies in the Gateway Design District at Monday night's meeting.

The Gateway Design District stretches from just south of I-84 to the intersection of Rhodes Road and Goose Lane.

Prior to last night's meeting, drive-through pharmacies were only allowed in the Tolland Village Area regulations.

Commission member John Hughes said that he wished more residents had attended the public hearing to voice their opinions on what can be a controversial topic in town.

"There has been a tremendous amount of comment from the public on this, and I don't see any public at the meeting," he said. "In my view, I wish we had much more public discussion."

In a , 65 percent of poll takers wanted the town to allow drive-throughs for pharmacies and food services. Another 21 percent wanted drive-throughs for pharmacies only.
